Temporary Files
To delete temporary files on Windows 10, you can use the built-in Disk Cleanup utility. This tool helps you free up space on your hard drive by removing unnecessary files, including temporary files. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Open Disk Cleanup:
- Press the
Windows key
on your keyboard or click on theStart
button in the taskbar. - Type “Disk Cleanup” and select the corresponding result.
- Press the
- Select the Drive:
- The Disk Cleanup utility will prompt you to select a drive. Choose the drive where you want to clean up temporary files (usually the C: drive).
- Disk Cleanup Options:
- Disk Cleanup will calculate how much space you can free up. Once the calculation is complete, a dialog box will appear.
- Check the boxes next to the types of files you want to delete. Temporary files are included in the list
- Clean up System Files:
- To clean up system files, click on the “Clean up system files” button. This will re-run Disk Cleanup with additional options, including system files.
- Select Additional File Types:
- After the recalculation, check the boxes for additional file types you want to delete. Temporary files are usually included in this list as well.
- Start Cleanup:
